Cotopaxi National Park

A visit to the Cotopaxi National Park with Cotopaxi Tours involves much more than a standard visit. We lead you through your interests and share with you our knowledge about the most interesting facts of the park. Some of the interests of the Cotopaxi National Park include geology, vulcanology, biology, ornithology, history, archaeology and mountain sports.

You can also see different kinds of animals like wild horses, various birds, and bulls. The visit will include a hike to the Cotopaxi Shelter (camp for mountain climbers) at 4 800 m / 14 760 ft and to the glacier, a visit to the Limpiopungo Lagoon and a short hike to admire the Andean birds that nest in the swamps that surround the lagoon. There is also a visit to the Pucara del Salitre, a strategic location where the Incas had a military fortress, you will visit the volcanic avenue where you can see the magnitude of past volcanic eruptions of the Cotopaxi Volcano, and finally the less known but beautiful “Ojo de Agua” or water spring which is a beautiful spot to relax and meditate.

After we visit the Cotopaxi National Park, we`ll have a personal experience with the Indigenous Community, where we can see how they live, what they do for living, how they dress, what they eat and hear some myths or stories from the past. You can also have the opportunity of interact with them asking questions and sharing some time with them.
